Excessive internal pressure may cause the air bag inflator to rupture

Subaru of America recalling 8,557 model year 2003-2004 Legacy, Outback Baja and 2004 Impreza (including WRX/STI) vehicles, equipped with Takata-brand front passenger air bag inflators.
Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. Metal fragments could strike and seriously injure the vehicle occupants.
Subaru will notify owners, and dealers will replace the inflators in all affected vehicles, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
