Altec recalls wood chippers

The fasteners that attach the chipper cutting disc bearing to the unit may fail

Altec Industries is recalling 813 model year 2011-2014 DC1317 wood chippers manufactured September 1, 2011, to July 14, 2014.

The fasteners that attach the chipper cutting disc bearing to the unit in the affected vehicles may fail and the chipper disc may detach. If the disc detaches within the housing, there is an increased risk of injury to the operator or those nearby.

Altec has notified owners, and dealers will replace the disc bearing mounting bolts, free of charge. The recall began on November 3, 2014.
