Owners with affected vehicles are advised not to drive them until the issue is resolved
March 28, 2014Porsche Cars North America is recalling 209 model year 2014 911 GT3 vehicles manufactured October 19, 2013, through January 16, 2014.
In the affected vehicles, a piston connecting rod may come loose and damage the engine crankcase. A damaged crankcase may allow engine oil to leak onto hot components in the engine bay which may result in a fire.
Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will install a new engine with improved piston connecting rod connections, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the engine has been replaced.
