Olufela Yemitan recalls smoked catfish

The products did not undergo import inspection

PhotoOlufela Yemitan of Houston, Texas is recalling approximately 45 pounds of smoked catfish (Siluriformes) products that did not undergo import inspection.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The following items, produced during August 2018, are being recalled:

  • 1-lb. plastic-wrapped packages of dried, smoked Siluriformes containing picante fishes spicy catfish smoked with tomatoe pepper sauce ready to eat now!!!!! and manufacturing date MFD: 8/2018 and best buy date BB: 2/2019 on the label.

The recalled products, imported from Nigeria, a country that is not eligible to export catfish to the U.S., were shipped to retail distribution locations in Texas.

What to do

Customers who purchased the recalled should not consume them, but discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
