The saddlebag latching arm may disengage

March 7, 2018

PhotoHarley-Davidson Motor Company is recalling 895 Detachable Saddlebags, part numbers 90201561, 90201645, 90501552, 90201644, 90201555 and 90201513.

The saddlebag latching arm, part number 90200481, may disengage, allowing the saddlebag to separate from the motorcycle during driving.

Should that happen, the saddlebag can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will install a kit onto the affected saddlebags that prevents the arm from unlatching inadvertently, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in early March 2018.

Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0172.
