PhotoMazda North America Operations is recalling 160 model year 2006 B-Series vehicles.

Upon deployment of the passenger side and driver side front airbags, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflators to explode.

Sharp metal fragments could strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

What to do

Mazda will notify owners instructing them not to drive their vehicles. Dealers will replace the inflators free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin January 19, 2018.

Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's numbers for this recall are 2318A and 2218A.
