Western Mixers recalls pistachios

The nuts may be contaminated with Salmonella

PhotoWestern Mixers Produce & Nut Company of Los Angeles, Calif., is recalling ARO and/or Treasured Harvest Pistachios, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product.

The pistachios were distributed in: California, Nevada, Ohio and Utah; through retail stores, mail order and various distributors from October 17, 2012, through April 29, 2013.

The Pistachios can be identified as follows:

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products with the above lot numbers are urged to destroy them and/or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
