The burner can disconnect from the base, posing burn and fire hazards

PhotoCrownplace Brands Ltd, of Dalton, Ohio, is recalling about 500 kerosene lamp burners.

The burner’s threads can disengage, allowing the burner to disconnect from the base, posing burn and fire hazards to the user.

The firm has received one report of thread failure, resulting in a first degree burn.

This recall involves Crownplace Brands’ Aladdin MaxBrite kerosene lamp burners. The solid brass lamp burners measure about four inches tall and three inches in diameter. The burner thread is about 3/8 inches long (about 9mm).

“Aladdin MAXBrite500” is printed on the burner knob. The patent number is 3551086. “Aladdin” and the patent number are printed on the barrel of the burner.

The lamp burners, manufactured in China, were sold at hardware and antique stores nationwide and online at www.amazon.com from July 2015, through July 2016, for between $100 and $400. The lamp burners were sold separately and as part of a lamp assembly.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lamp burners and contact Crownplace Brands for a free replacement.
