Purina medicated sheep feed recalled

The product contains elevated copper levels

Purina Animal Nutrition is recalling one lot of Purina® Lamb Grower® B30 Medicated Sheep Feed packaged in the green and white generic paper LAND O LAKES® Feed bags.

 

The product contains elevated copper levels that can cause health issues and potential mortality in sheep.

 

Symptoms of copper toxicity in sheep include: lethargy and anemia, grinding of teeth, thirst, off feed/poor appetite, pale to yellow mucous membranes, red/dark purple colored urine and recumbancy. Death usually occurs one to two days after onset of clinical symptoms.

 

There has been one report of mortality associated with this product.

 

The following product, distributed in Ohio and Pennsylvania during from May 12, 2016 – June 22, 2016, is being recalled:

The lot number is found on the sewing strip of each bag.

 

What to do

Customers who purchased the recalled product should discontinue feeding it immediately and return remaining bags to their retailer.
