United States Stove Company recalls pellet stoves

The internal fire box baffle can degrade

United States Stove Company of South Pittsburg, Tenn., is recalling about 4,400 pellet heater/stoves.

 

The internal fire box baffle can degrade, overheat and pose a fire hazard.

 

The company has received 16 reports of fire and property damage. No injuries have been reported.

 

The recall includes United States Stove Company’s HomComfort 2400 24K BTU Pellet Heater/Stoves. These steel and polycarbonate products are grey and are used as a window mounted heating appliance. The heaters measure about 21.5 inches high by 24.5 inches deep by 23 inches wide.

 

Serial numbers included in the recall are 0451 through 4420, 5681 through 5890 and 6301 through 6310. The firm name and serial number are printed on the faceplate attached by screws on the front bottom of the unit.

 

The heater-stoves, manufactured in China, were sold at Northern Tool, Orsheln, Orgill Brothers and Rural King home heating retailers and online at www.HomeDepot.com, www.Lowes.com and www.NorthernTool.com from April 2010, through March 2012, for about $1000.

 

Consumers should immediately unplug these units, stop using the product and return the circuit board and serial face plate to the firm for $868 cash or $1,200 credit towards the purchase of any United States Stove Company product.
