PhotoSkipanon Brand Seafoods LLC of Warrenton, Oregon is recalling ALL LOTS, ALL SIZES of ALL Skipanon brand seafood canned products. This is because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause life-threatening illness or death.

Consumers should not use these products for any reason, even if it does not look or smell like it is spoiled.

Clostridium botulinum bacterium cause botulism, which is a form of food poisoning that can be fatal to those who contract it. Symptoms of botulism include dizziness, trouble speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing, general weakness, and constipation.

There have been no reported cases of illness to date, but the recall was initiated due to lack of documentation and the possibility of under-processed products. The problem was discovered during an inspection by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and their investigation is ongoing.

The products were distributed to wholesalers and retailers in Oregon, Michigan, Nevada and Washington, as well as online customers nationwide via the website skipanonbrand.com. Products were distributed as late as September of 2015.

You can contact Skipanon Brand Seafoods LLC with any questions or concerns, Monday through Friday, at (503) 861-8277 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. PST. You can also email them at recallskipanonbrand@gmail.com
