Food Nation Produce of Ridgewood, N.Y., is recalling “Western Beef packaged of Sun Dried Tomatoes.”
The product may contain sulfites, which are not listed on the label.
The consumption of 10 milligrams (mg) of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 mg or more of sulfites. Analysis of the recalled product revealed it contained 32.2 mg per serving.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recalled product comes in an un-coded 16-oz. or 32-oz. plastic container and was sold in Western Beef retail supermarkets in New York.
Customers who purchased this product should return it to the place of purchase.
