Steering gear mounting bolts may break during vehicle operation

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 5,058 model year 2014-2015 Smart Fortwo Coupes and Convertibles, and 2014 Fortwo Coupe Electric and Fortwo Convertible Electric vehicles.
The recalled vehicles have steering gear mounting bolts that may break during vehicle operation. That could affect vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear mounting bolts, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
