April 9, 2015La Guadalupana Wholesale of Chicago, Ill., is recalling approximately 34,923 pounds of pork and chicken tamale products.
The products contain egg whites, an allergen not listed on the label.
There are no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
The following pork and chicken tamale items, produced on various dates between January 16, 2015, and March 30, 2015, are being recalled:
- 25 lb. cases containing 100 4 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Pork Tamales.”
- 15 lb. cases containing 80 3 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Pork Tamales.”
- 25 lb. cases containing 100 4 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Chicken Tamales.”
- 15 lb. cases containing 80 3 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Chicken Tamales.”
- 15 lb. cases containing 60 4 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Chicken Tamales.”
- 12.5 lb. cases containing 50 4 oz. pieces of “La Guadalupana Hot Chicken Tamales.”
The recalled products bear the establishment number “EST. 21094” or “P-21094” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
The problem was discovered by FSIS in-plant personnel during routine verification activities.
